Echka Castle is, actually, a huge one-story house built in 1820 by the landowner Lazar Agoston, to be used as a summer house. It is surrounded by a large park, and there is also an old water tower resembling a small fortress.
There are a few old stone and bronze monuments in the park, and a long crumbling structure once used as a stable, which you might find interesting if you feel like exploring deserted corridors and basements or climbing flimsy staircases.
Inside the castle there is a regular hotel, as well as a restaurant where you can have a lunch or just sit down and rest from exploring the surroundings.
In the Echka village you can see the oldest church in this region - St Nikola’s Orthodox Church, built in 1711 of mud and straw with shingle roof and wooden tower. Iconostasis from 1886 is an artwork of the unknown artist.
Also to be seen in the village is a Roman Orthodox Church from 1850. You will easily spot and recognize the yellow structure with a spire, built in neoclassical style.
